The
Blind shake... Began in the summer of 2oo1 in the woods of a northern
Minnesota town near Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The 3 piece, consisting
of brothers Jim and Mike Blaha, and childhood friend Dave Roper,
began banging it out over the holidays or whenever they could get
together between school semesters. The Blind Shakeís brand of urgent
noise definitely is drawn from the wells of Minneapolis music history.
Traces of Husker Du and Amphetamine Reptile era Minneapolis will
be peppered throughout. As well as hints of Unwound and
Drive Like
Jehu. The songs are angry stomps fueled by cabin fever, effed up
relationships, Midwest upbringing, and frostbite. &nbs
p; When I see these
guys I think to myself, "man, these boys need some Excedrin". Seriously
though, I really think of these guys a quite heavy band but, they
seem to always show melody and pop through their call and response
choruses and almost at times surf like riffs (...though maybe
through a Big Muff.) Soon after settling in Minneapolis, they started
playing out around Minneapolis and the Midwest indie circuit. The
band has sort of hit the ground running since their first show in
May 2002. They seemed have gained the most respect for their spot-on
live shows. They have toured extensively, written loads of songs
and have been hanging out in the studio. Recently, they have played
shows with The Namedrops , El Namedroperes and Los Namedropcheros
